Choosing between a roof repair or a full roof replacement after your home has sustained damage can be tough. That may be great for their bottom lines, but not for yours—replacing your roof too soon can be a waste of money.

There is no substitute for the honest, informed opinion of an expert. The extent to which your roof is damaged can point you in the right direction. How old is your roof? What material is it made of, and how long is its typical lifespan? What condition was it in before it was damaged? Would you be able to lay more shingles over the existing roof? These are all good questions to ask when coming to a decision. If your roof is nearing the end of its natural lifespan, has seen better days, and can’t be patched up with more shingles, your best bet may be a roof replacement.
